Trial of alleged Cape Town underworld gang bosses resumes

The trial of alleged underworld gang bosses Jerome “Donkie” Booysen, André Naude and 13 others is expected to resume in the High Court in Cape Town today.

The matter was postponed last week after co-accused, Mark Lifman, was murdered in George.

Lifman was gunned down in a hail of bullets outside the Garden Route Mall.

Two men have been arrested in connection with his murder.

The matter was postponed yesterday due to the absence of the third accused, Naude, whom the court heard has taken ill.

The accused are on trial on several charges including the murder of a man known as the steroid king, Brian Wainstein.

They also face charges of conspiracy to commit murder and money laundering.
