Traditional leader’s bail bid in murder of Umngeni councillor resumes

The bail application of a traditional leader charged with the 2023 murder of Umngeni chief whip, Nhlalayenza Ndlovu, is set to continue in the Howick Magistrates Court on Monday.

Last week, Inkosi Simphiwe Zuma made a first appearance in court for a third separate murder case.

So far, he is alleged to have killed an induna at Impendle, a man from the Mphophomeni area at the end of 2022, and Ndlovu in December 2023.

The state has handed in an affidavit by the investigating officer that Zuma is linked to bribing a magistrate in the Impendle case to get bail.

The state also says Zuma was recorded discussing Ndlovu’s murder.

Zuma denies any involvement in the Ndlovu murder.
