Tony Yengeni.
Former ANC Chief Whip Tony Yengeni has joined the uMkhonto weSizwe Party and has been appointed as the party’s second deputy president.
MK Party leader Jacob Zuma has made the announcement at a media briefing in Durban.
He says John Hlophe remains in his position as deputy president, but will focus on the party’s parliamentary work.
Zuma says the party’s growth led to Yengeni’s appointment.
“He’s a cadre who took a decision to leave the country as a young man to go and prepare himself to fight to free the black South Africans in South Africa. Indeed, he did everything that was supposed to be done. And he added the political education and he has remained a very solid leader, a solid cadre,” says Zuma.
