Deputy Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla has warned those who are smoking tobacco, saying that they must quit soon before they suffer consequences.
The call was also heeded by the youth who attended the World Tobacco Day event in Midrand, saying that they will also encourage fellow young people to desist from smoking tobacco because that is dangerous to their health.
A Grade 10 learner says she wants to make a change in the world.
“The tobacco industry is really ruining our youth. What I have learned from this event is that we really need to come together and save our country as well because its’s in a very bad place influencing the young people of today. It’s up to us to a make a change as well for our youth.”
