The Tshwane Metro Police Department *TMPD) in Gauteng has shut down three illegal taverns and demolished several illegal structures, during a by-law enforcement operation in Mamelodi.
The taverns were raided and shutdown Friday night due to non-compliance with the City’s by-law regulations, as well as for operating without liquor licenses.
Nine illegal structures were also destroyed after officers discovered that they were being used as hideouts for criminals.
TMPD spokesperson, Puleng Motholo, “This decisive action was taken in response to information received regarding the use of the illegally erected structures for criminals before and after committing crime in the area. The closure of the taverns was due to non-compliance. The TMPD remains resolute in maintaining order and by-law compliance in the City of Tshwane.”
