The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) says it is shifting its focus to patrolling the inner-city and townships to held curb crime and lawlessness this Easter long weekend.
Traffic volumes have since eased on the N1 highway to Limpopo after thousands of holiday makers and ZCC pilgrims left the City for their various destinations.
The City of Tshwane has recently unveiled 24 new vehicles to strengthen policing this Easter.
Tshwane Metro Police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says the vehicles have already been deployed across all regions of the city and are making a noticeable impact to law enforcement operations.
“We are now going to go in the inner parameters of the city, in your households where we think there is a crime happening and that’s where our members will be deployed. We are working on crime prevention with SAPS, and we are getting the analysis from crime prevention, but we don’t want to disclose the hotspots that we know, but motorists are urged to be on the lookout on the roads.”
