Mother and her two daughters that were rescued
Three people who had been trapped between Mutale River and a stream at Gwakwani River outside Thohoyandou in Limpopo have been rescued.
The victims, a mother and her two daughters, were rescued by the emergency services personnel helicopter.
They had spent two days and nights in the rain as they couldn’t cross the overflowing river and a stream.
They had gone to a neighbouring village when they were trapped on their return.
Meanwhile, heavy downpours are continuing, rendering some places inaccessible as low bridges have been cut-off.
EMS’s Asivhanzhi Munyai says the situation is serious at Mbodi Village.
“We are at Mbodi Section. It’s raining heavily. It has been like this since Sunday. There are people who are trapped at Gwakwani Village. The bridge is full and people cannot drive over, it’s difficult.”
