Police in KwaZulu-Natal have launched a manhunt for suspects who shot and killed three men in the KwaMpondo area of Dabhazi, Nongoma.
The shooting incident is said to have occurred during the early hours of this morning.
The attack comes ahead of a visit by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu tomorrow. He will be visiting KwaMusi and Onyango areas in Nongoma to resolve ongoing faction fights between residents of the two villages, which have led to several murders.
Police Spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the motive for the killing of the three men is unknown.
Netshiunda says, “Police responded to reports of a shooting and upon arrival at the scene of the crime, three bodies of men aged 26,29 and 34 years old were found lying on the road with bullet wounds to the head, which could suggest that they were shot and killed execution style.”
“The vehicle which the three deceased persons were travelling in was found idling next to the bodies, with a wheel spanner and a jack outside the vehicle. Reports indicate that the three victims were part of a family ceremony in Nkowane area and had delivered family members after the ceremony when the incident happened.”
He adds, “Their vehicle was confirmed to have had tyre problems and the three could have been ambushed when they were fixing the tyre.”
