Three suspects who had allegedly hijacked a vehicle in Mariannhill in Durban have been killed in a shootout with police.
In a statement, police say the vehicle was loaded with home appliances.
They say their investigations traced the hijacked vehicle to the Klaarwater hostel in Mariannhill.
It was during a high-speed chase that the suspects started firing shots at the police and a shootout ensued.
The suspects were found in possession of two firearms and several rounds of ammunition.
