A female Limpopo police officer has been arrested in connection with the deaths of her son and his partner in Mokomene-Mashaha village in Botlokwa.
Provincial police spokesperson, Malesela Ledwaba says the 25-year-old man was found lying with bullet wounds. His teenage partner later died in hospital.
The cause of the incident is unknown.
Ledwaba says the officer will face murder charges when she appears in court soon.
“Upon arrival at the scene they found the victim’s son motionless with gunshot wounds holding a sharp instrument in his hand. A 16-year-old girl was also shot. Police opened a case of murder and the suspect was then arrested on the spot,” says Ledwaba.
In another shooting incident in the province, a businessman accused of gunning down the sheriff of the court will be back in the Tiyani Magistrate’s Court outside Giyani for bail application next Wednesday.
The incident happened in Magoro village outside Giyani yesterday.
Police say the accused shot the sheriff who was about to repossess his truck. The accused has been remanded in custody.
