Thousands of people dressed in their Ndebele regalia have gathered at Komjekejeke Heritage Site in Wallmansthal outside Pretoria to commemorate legendary Amandebele King Silamba.
King Silamba played a pivotal role in preserving the Ndebele culture during the challenging times of colonialism.
Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Velinkosini Hlabisa is among the dignitaries attending the ceremony.

Those in attendance say such events are crucial to help to teach the youth about their roots.
“It’s important for the youth to know their roots, and this can help them to learn about how things are done,” says one of the attendees.
Another person says,” It is nice when people from different cultures come together to learn our culture because we learn a lot here.”
