Thousands of African National Congress (ANC) members and supporters have gathered at the Alexandra Stadium in Gauteng for the provincial leg of the party’s January 8 Statement celebrations.

The celebration follows a decision by the ANC to reconfigure leadership in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal after poor election results.

Treasurer-General Dr. Gwen Ramokgopa will deliver the keynote address where she’s expected to cover provincial challenges and the party’s future plans.

Today, the ANC in Gauteng hosts its vibrant Provincial #ANC113 January 8 rally, with ANC Treasurer-General Cde Dr. Gwen Ramokgopa joining in the celebrations of unity, progress, and the movement’s enduring legacy!

Roads and Transport MEC in the province, Kedibone Diale elaborates on some reconfiguration processes.

“The current government has committed themselves to, under the leadership of Panyaza Lesufi, the revival of townships, informal settlements, hostels as well as CBDs. There’s a committee established through CoGTA in our province to make sure that we coordinate that work with municipalities. Of course, making sure that services are delivered speedily. We are hopeful that Johannesburg will pick themselves up collectively and make sure that we deal with the challenges that people of Johannesburg are faced with.”
