uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party says although there are laws protecting the rights of the workers, there are still industries disregarding these laws and abusing workers.

MK Party commemorated Workers’ Day through a rally at George Botha Hall in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.

The Party’s Provincial Coordinator, Xolani Mgxotheni, has called workers to unite under the banner of the party for their rights to be protected.

Mgxotheni says, “Workers are coming from extremely difficult conditions. To some extent they have serious victories of moving away from slavery to becoming workers that are protected by the laws of the country, protected through basic workers right, but we are saying it’s not enough because the larger part of the commercial industry, the private sector work, they are still treated with some elements of previous ways of doing things, as such workers basic conditions are disregarded. We are uniting everyone as MK because we understand workers are part of the society.”
