Spectators gather at the Cape Town City Centre ahead of the Tweede Nuwe Jaar Parade.
The Cape Town CBD has come alive with the sounds of the minstrel bands in their colourful costumes, as they march in the Cape Town Street Parade, also known as the Tweede Nuwe Jaar Parade.
Thousands of performers from various minstrel troupes from across the City entertain spectators with their symphony of banjos, guitars, ghoema drums, trombones and tubas.
Thousands of spectators have lined the streets that the minstrels will march through, as they watch the performers perform their music and showcase their costumes.
Some spectators have been camping out in the streets for several days, in order to secure a good viewing spot. The troupes will be marching from Hanover Street in the CBD to Rose Street in Bo-Kaap.
