An 18-year-old female equestrian athlete says she’s excited to represent South Africa on the international stage at the International Tent Pegging Championship in Jordan this coming week.
Makhosazana Dlomo from Kwazulu-Natal is one of five members of the South African under-21 youth team.
They made their final practice run in George in the Western Cape this weekend before jetting off to Jordan tomorrow, where they will compete against seven other countries.
Dlomo says it will be a good experience.
“So far, I’ve only traveled locally in SA. This is the first time going overseas for the sport, which is really exciting. I think the adrenaline rush you get from it and the competitive nature of the sport really entices you. My message would be ‘don’t let your fears hold you back’. If you are determined and you persevere, I feel that you can accomplish anything,” says Dlomo.
