The African National Congress (ANC) says talks with the National Health, Education and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU) are underway to rectify the nonpayment of staff salaries.
This, after Luthuli House staff members picketed outside the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg on Monday, where the ANC’s fifth National General Council (NGC) is being held.
Staff members raised concerns over the nonpayment of salaries and other benefits, as it seems the ANC’s financial situation may be deteriorating.
ANC National spokesperson, Mahlengi Bhengu, says there are ongoing conversations between NEHAWU and management at Luthuli House.
“There are ongoing conversations between the union that represents the staff of the ANC, NEHAWU and management at Luthuli House. We are committed to doing what is correct because the ANC wants to turn around the situation of making sure that our talented members of staff are remunerated on time and consistently, as it should be, because they contribute a lot to the success of our organization.”
