The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) says its upper and lower stations will be temporarily shut down between the 28th of July and the 3rd of August for annual maintenance.
Executive Director of TMACC, Selma Hercules, says that the cableway has to undergo routine inspections and essential upgrades to ensure that the system continues to operate to the highest international safety standards.
She says that the summit and base stations will also be closed during this time.
Hercules says that hikers must be prepared to do routes down the mountain on foot for the maintenance shutdown period.
