Danish mountain biker Annika Langvad won the women’s race in the ABSA Cape Epic, together with her partner Sofia Gomez Villafane of Argentina.

This was Landvad’s sixth win in the Epic and she said she rode most of the stages in incredible pain. “This has been absolutely crazy, it did not go according to plan. I have been in so much pain like really in so much pain and it has not been fun it has been really, really tough. I am happy to be here and it has been an honour to be alongside Sofia. It’s been good but man I have been suffering.”

Swiss riders, Nino Schurter and Filippo Colombo have won the ABSA Cape Epic by the closest margin in the race’s history, just one minute and 31 seconds ahead of Luca Braidot and Simone Avondetto of Italy.

Marco Joubert and Tristan Nortje of South Africa finished third overall.

For Schurter it was his third Cape Epic win, and perhaps the toughest of his career. “I am super stoked about all the support. It is amazing I love this race and it was so cool I was able to win it again for the third time. I don’t know how many more I can do but this is a really sweet one, it will for sure be a career highlight.”
