Seven suspects have been arrested for the kidnapping of a Chinese businesswoman in Kokstad in KwaZulu-Natal.

In a statement, the Hawks says the 46-year-old female was accosted by the suspects in September while closing her bottle store.

She was kidnapped along with her security guard.

The security guard was dropped off at a nearby vicinity and the suspects disappeared with the victim.

It is believed that the suspects demanded a ransom of R15 million.

Last week, the suspects contacted the victim’s family and demanded a further ransom of R12 million.

Following the arrest, the victim was found alive and is receiving medical care at a local hospital.
