Alleged child pornography suspect Darryn Wilken and his partner have been denied bail by the Randburg Magistrate’s Court in Johannesburg.

The pair face multiple charges including 24 counts of money laundering, possession and distribution of child pornography and contravention of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Wilken was arrested on 17 January.

His co-accused and girlfriend, Tiona Moodley, was arrested a week later.

This after an FBI-led investigation uncovered an estimated 10 million videos and images of child sexual exploitation material.

Magistrate Pravina Rughoonandan handed down the judgment.

“I am of the view that the applicants failed to discharge and to show the balance of probabilities that circumstances are good, which in there is an interest of justice for them to be released on bail. Could you please stand up, your bail has been denied. You remain in custody.”
