19 taxi operators arrested in connection with the ongoing taxi violence on the Malamulele-Giyani route in Limpopo. They are expected to appear in a local magistrate’s court this Thursday.
The suspects have been linked to cases of intimidation, robbery and assault.
This comes as rival taxi associations operating between Malamulele and Giyani have been fighting over the route, with violence since October.
Provincial police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba confirms the arrests.
“Lawlessness will never be tolerated, regardless of who is involved. We will deal decisively with anyone who engages in acts of violence, especially during this festive season when our communities rely heavily on public transport.”
