A suspected Inanda gang leader and his accomplice have been shot dead during a shootout with police in Verulam, north of Durban.
They were allegedly terrorising residents of Inanda, KwaMashu and surrounding areas.
Officers pinned down the two suspects after they received information that the alleged gang leader and two others were driving to Umhlanga to collect drugs and ammunition.
KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has commended the police officers for relentlessly searching for a suspected gang leader and his alleged accomplice.
Mkhwanazi says it is their duty to protect residents.- Reporting by Samke Mtshali
