A 25-year-old suspect is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrate’s Court on Thursday in connection with a shooting incident in Nyanga on the Cape Flats on Christmas Day in December 2025.
Four people were killed when two armed men entered a room, opened fire on them and fled the scene.
Witnesses helped to identify the suspect who was arrested on Wednesday after failing to appear in the Wynburg Magistrate’s Court in a separate case.
Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg says, “The suspect did not show up for his court appearance and a warrant of arrest was issued for his immediate arrest. Further investigation led detectives to a hospital where the suspect was admitted. He was discharged from hospital and was arrested for murder.”
