Suspect nabbed for murder of blind 80-year-old pensioner in Phoenix

A suspect has been arrested after a blind pensioner in her 80s was brutally stabbed to death at her home in Phoenix north of Durban this week.

Her 60-year-old daughter was also stabbed in the incident.

Reports from the scene say the suspect was known to the women but police are yet to confirm this.

Spokesperson for private security company, Reaction Unit South Africa, Prem Balram says the suspects is remanded in custody.

“This incident happened on Monday night and the person was arrested about 48 hours later. According to information we received from police, they made contact with reaction officers this morning requesting a statement of what the daughter had said during her treatment. They informed us that the suspect arrested was in custody.”
