Suspect in court for allegedly hacking to death three children in KZN

A suspect arrested in connection with the murder of three children in the Lulwane area in Emanguzi in northern KwaZulu-Natal is expected to appear at the local Magistrate’s Court on Monday, facing charges of murder.

The three children aged between seven and fifteen years were hacked to death.

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the mother was not at home when her children were brutally attacked with a bush knife on Saturday night.

Netshiunda says the suspect was arrested on Sunday.

“Reports indicate that the mother of the children was out running errands for her small business and when she went home, she found her three children, aged seven, nine and fifteen years old, butchered to death. Police were summoned to the scene and investigations began. On Sunday morning, 1 February 2026, the suspect was arrested, and he will appear in the Emanguzi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 2 February 2026.”
