A man from Lindley in the Free State was arrested last night for the alleged murder of his girlfriend and their daughter.

This after police discovered the decomposing bodies of the 27-year-old woman and an 18-month-old baby girl following a complaint by the community.

Upon arrival, police discovered that the suspect hadn’t been sleeping in the house anymore.

Police Spokesperson Mmako Mophiring says preliminary investigations revealed that the victim is from Petrus Steyn.

Her mother confirmed that the last time she saw her daughter and granddaughter was on the 22nd of December when they went to visit the child’s father.

Mophiring says DNA samples have been obtained from the deceased’s mother to verify if it is her biological daughter and granddaughter.

Members of the community noticed a bad smell coming from that house and saw flies in that house and they suspect that there’s something wrong.

Upon arrival of the police, they found two bodies of an adult and the minor.
