Proteas players during the One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia in Cairns on August 19, 2025.
South African off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen has been reported over a suspect bowling action for the second time in his career after the Proteas’ victory in the first One-Day International (ODI) against Australia in Cairns on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old, who took the key wicket of Travis Head, made his ODI debut in the 98-run victory, but match officials raised concern about the legality of Subrayen’s bowling action.
It will now be independently assessed at the National Cricket Centre in Brisbane at the end of the series against Australia.
Subrayen is still available to be selected in the remaining matches, but the Proteas management has decided to sit him out until the process is complete.
The second ODI will be played at the Great Barrier Reef Stadium in Mackay in Queensland, on Friday.
A proud moment for Prenelan Subrayen as he receives his ODI cap for the Proteas. 🇿🇦🧢
