African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa has awarded the party’s centenarian struggle veteran, Dr Tlou Theophilus Cholo, the highest honour, known as the Seaparankoe Award. This is in recognition of his lifelong service to the liberation of South Africa.
Dr Tlou Cholo is celebrating his 100th birthday.
Speaking at the award ceremony in Soshanguve, Ramaphosa praised Dr Cholo for his years of loyalty and commitment to the political party.
“It is an honour, even for me, to be able to give a person who has reached 100 years this great honour. Who has reached 100 years, still loyal to the ANC, still in love with this organisation that he joined many years ago, that he has continued to love, to serve and to honour. And much as we are going through difficult times, for us as an organisation, we really feel encouraged. We feel our spirits lifted when we honour Dr Cholo.”
