Strict bail conditions for Milnerton High School learners: NPA

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says the bail extended to six of the eight learners from the Milnerton High school in Cape Town, has strict conditions.

The learners are accused of involvement in a violent bullying incident. The Cape Town Magistrate’s Court granted six of them bail of R2 000 each.

The other two appeared in a juvenile court and were released on warning.

The accused have been suspended from school following a video which went viral showing a grade ten learner being assaulted with various objects including a hockey stick.

NPA Western Cape spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, says the bail conditions prohibit the learners from entering the school premises.

“One of the conditions that we were waiting for, we got an instruction or directive from the Department of Education in the Western Cape that they will provide an alternative place for them to write exams. They will have to study at home, but they will have to go to the Northern District to write exams and the matter has been postponed to the 20th of January 2026 to give them enough time to study and finish with their exams.”
