Shops damaged by a major storm in Mkhondo in Mpumalanga.
A severe thunderstorm has caused significant damage to municipal offices, schools, and businesses in Mkhondo, Mpumalanga.
The storm has also disrupted electricity supply in the area and numerous trees were uprooted.
Mkhondo Municipality spokesperson Howard Vilakazi says that disaster management teams are currently assessing the damage.
“What happened is that we were hit hard by a storm yesterday where in majority of properties including our offices were badly damaged, we have now issued an instruction to councillors to quantify the damages so that at 11 we would converge to assess the extent of the damage and perhaps be able to give you full details of what has transpired trees were uprooted including roofs of house holds its a lot for now,” said Vilakazi.
