Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng presiding over the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial at the High Court in Pretoria.
The state in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial is expected to poke holes in the testimony of defence witness, Absalom Zungu.
He has been testifying in the High Court in Pretoria, where five men are on trial for killing Meyiwa in October 2014.
Zungu allegedly gave the investigating team a breakthrough in the case when he implicated Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi in the killing.
On Monday, State Prosecutor George Baloyi questioned whether Zungu was really aggrieved after hearing Brigadier Gininda’s testimony in 2023.
“Brigadier Gininda testified for the first time in this court around the 27th of November 2023. And Brigadier Gininda referred to your name during his testing. However, the statement that you made at Newcastle police station is only dated 8 July 2025. If you were so aggrieved, why did you wait this long?
Zungu replied: “What was I supposed to do?”
Defence witness Absolom Zungu returns to the High Court in Pretoria on Monday for the murder trial of former Bafana Bafana Captain Senzo Meyiwa.
