State expected to wrap up its argument in Meyiwa trial

The state is expected to wrap up its argument that charges against accused number four in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial should not be withdrawn.

Rebutting Mthokoziseni Maphisa’s lawyer’s argument, State Prosecutor Advocate George Baloyi said there is enough evidence linking Maphisa to the 2014 killing.

Maphisa and four others are in the dock, as the state contends it was a contractual assassination ordered by Meyiwa’s then girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo.

Accused number four continues to profess his innocence in the Meyiwa murder.

The state argues that Mthokoziseni Maphisa played a role in the killing of the soccer star and should continue to answer.

It also adds that the two confessions by accused number two, Bongani Ntanzi, are sufficient, which places all five men at the scene.
