Empty benches in court.
The Umzimkhulu Magistrates’ Court has heard that one of the men charged with the murder of the former ANC Youth League Secretary-General Sindiso Magaqa, is linked with an accused in another murder case through a cellphone that was found during a prison raid.
Prosecutor Advocate Lawrence Gcaba says the cellphone was found in the Westville Prison cell of Inkosi Simphiwe Zuma, who is charged with the murder of the Umngeni Municipality Chief whip Nhlalayenza Ndlovu in 2023.
He says the cell phone had two numbers that belong to Zweliphansi Skhosana, who is applying for bail in the Sindiso Magaqa murder case.
Advocate Gcaba says investigations have shown that Zuma is allegedly paying and threatening people not to testify and that Skhosana is doing the same.
Skhosana says he and Zuma exchanged numbers in case Zuma doesn’t come back from court.
