Springboks’ legend Dawie Snyman dies at age 76


South African rugby has lost one of its greatest servants. Former Springboks utility back and Western Province coach Dawie Snyman, passed away at the age of 76 this morning. 

Snyman was educated at Grey Kollege in Bloemfontein and studied at the University of Stellenbosch. 

He was selected for the 1971 Springboks’ touring team to Australia before he made his provincial debut.  

He only made his test debut the following year and went on to represent his country in 10 test matches between 1972 and 1977.  

After his playing career, Snyman became a renowned coach.  

He was at the helm of Western Province when they won the Currie Cup five time in a row from 1982 to 1986.
