Springbok women’s squad set to face Brazil in World Cup opener

The Springbok Women will open their Women’s Rugby World Cup campaign with a squad laden with Test and World Cup experience.

They take on Brazil in a Pool D match in Northampton on Sunday.

Only four players in the starting 15 – fullback Byrhandrѐ Dolf, the two wings Maceala Samboya and Ayanda Malinga, and lock Danelle Lochner – have not played in a World Cup before.

The team will be captained by Nolusindiso Booi.

The lock will make her 53rd appearance for the Springbok women.

The halfbacks, Nadine Roos and Libbie Janse van Rensburg, will be required to pull the strings for girls in Green and Gold.

This will be the first Test match between the two nations.

Brazil have had the upper hand as far as sevens rugby is concerned, with three wins from four matches.
