Meanwhile, some residents in Kotishing outside Polokwane in Limpopo say they are going to cross over into the New Year celebrating with their families.
They say that 2024 has had its challenges and they are anticipating that 2025 will bring new opportunities.
Two of the residents, Jack Mashabela and Kala Lekganyane explain how they will usher in the New Year.
“I will cross over at my friend’s place, he has invited me, they are having a traditional ceremony. And we’ll be celebrating crossing over to the following year. We are hoping that 2025 will come with the opportunities. I will be at Zion Christian Church.”
Deputy Minister of Police Polly Boshielo has urged the public to be responsible in celebrating the New Year’s Eve.
“Drink and stay at home, so that all of us can be safe. We come back in the New Year refreshed with new ideas, new visions so that we can be able to build the country because as people die, people with skills also die. Our country will suffer, so stay at home and then we’ll see you in the New Year.”
