A man has been arrested for speeding and reckless driving on the N1 between Three Sisters and Beaufort West in the Western Cape.
His vehicle nearly collided with that of the province’s Mobility Minister Isaac Sileku.
According to Sileku, the man overtook multiple vehicles and even forced some off the road.
He says the driver was travelling at a staggering 182 kilometres per hour in a 120-kilometre-per-hour zone.
“Today’s incident is a stern reminder of the dangers caused by irresponsible behaviour on the roads. Reckless and negligent driving will not be tolerated in the Western Cape, particularly at a time when so many are travelling during the holiday season.”
