Some truth to allegations Jayden-Lee reported abuse: Gauteng Education

The Gauteng Education Department says there’s some truth to allegations that 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek had previously reported abuse to his school before his death.

Today, the department dispatched officials to Royal College in Florida west of Johannesburg to establish facts regarding these allegations.

The learner was last seen on the 13th of May when he was dropped off at his family’s apartment complex in Fleurhof by a scholar transport. His badly bruised body was found the next day outside the flat by one of the residents.

Yesterday, the boy’s mother Tiffany Meek appeared in court charged with her son’s murder.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says the investigation is ongoing.

“Though schools are closed, but the management has agreed that they will be opening the doors for our officials. And as soon as the investigation is done, we will be provided with a report which will include recommendations and the way forward. By next week we should have our report,” says Mabona.

The case against Tiffany Meek, the accused in the murder of her son 11-year-old Jayden-Lee Meek, has been postponed to this Friday, at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court.

The 31-year-old was arrested on Friday last week.

Disgruntled community members from Fleurhof, came out in their numbers to the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court, where Jayden-Lee Meek’s mother made her first appearance on Monday.
