The Groblersbridge port of entry flooded.
The Border Management Authority (BMA) says it has evacuated officials at the Stockpoort port of entry due to rising water levels.
Earlier today, the BMA announced that operations have temporarily been suspended at five ports of entry – namely, Stockpoort, Makgobistad, Bray, Groblersbridge and Pontdrift.
This follows severe flooding due to heavy rains.
BMA Deputy Assistant Commissioner, Peter Mphilo, says operations have resumed at the Makgobistad port of entry.
“Makgobistad now, operations have resumed. With regard to Stockpoort, we have temporarily suspended operations due to flooding. The water before the port, around the port and after the port itself you cannot even see the bridge – the bridge is completely submerged. It’s for that reason that we had to evacuate our officials from the port including that of SAPS and other support staff. We have advised that port users use alternative ports – Skilpadshek, Kopfontein, Ramatlabama and Beitbridge.
