Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson attends the Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium (SIDSSA) in Cape Town on May 26, 2025.
Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson says there is a need to find solutions to integrate infrastructure development across the continent.
This comes as the 2025 Sustainable Infrastructure Development Symposium (SIDSSA) takes place in Cape Town.
Government has consistently emphasised infrastructure development as a strategic priority and promised to turn South Africa into a construction site.
Macpherson says, “Fourteen ministers from across the continent met to discuss how we can integrate infrastructure development, to have a common approach and common purpose so that we can drive regional and continental integration, that boosts our economies and creates jobs.”
He adds, “So, a very good meeting, a real commitment with determined outcomes, agreed outcomes of how we move forward. We also have a number of South African ministers attending, as well as premiers and seeing how we can bring collaboration together between the SA government and governments across Africa.”
