Trade union Solidarity says it’s willing to negotiate downwards in its wage dispute with FlySafair.
The two parties will resume their CCMA-led wage negotiations in Centurion this afternoon.
The union says priority will be focussed on resolving non-finance disagreements.
It says the pilots’ roster in relation to the working hours remains the most contentious issue for its members.
More than 200 pilots at the airline have embarked on a strike.
FlySafair, which is currently operating at a limited capacity, is offering a 5.7% wage increase, while the union is demanding a 10.5% increase.
Solidarity’s Helgard Cronje says the roster issues need to be tackled first.
“We believe the way to resolve this dispute is by starting with the roster dispute, that’s a non-cost item. We saw FlySafair’s comments in the media about how much our demands would cost, so our view is let’s start with the non-cost item. It is the roaster dispute and the most contentious issue, especially among our members. So, if we can resolve the roster issues, it will lower emotions and make the rest of the discussion easier.”
