A delegation from AfriForum and the Solidarity Movement has met with representatives of United States President Donald Trump’s administration in Washington.
In a post on X, AfriForum’s Head of Public Relations, Ernst Van Zyl, said the delegation included the chairperson of the Solidarity Movement Flip Buys, AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel and Solidarity CEO Dr Dirk Hermann.
According to their statement, the delegation expressed gratitude to the Trump administration for highlighting alleged human rights violations against Afrikaners and what it referred to as reckless policies of the African National Congress (ANC) and poor governance of the country.
The group also handed over a memorandum to the Trump administration.
According to their statement, the memorandum indicates that the interest of South African citizens, including Afrikaners, could best be promoted through intensified pressure on ANC leaders to push what it refers to as radical policies rather than ending the country’s participation in the Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) or punishing South Africa as a whole.
The delegation is said to have expressed serious concerns about the consequences of the Expropriation Act, racial laws, calls for violence against Afrikaners and legislation such as the BELA Act.
Solidarity’s Dr Hermann also handed over a report to US officials which according to their statement, highlights the wide scope of discriminatory racial legislation in South Africa.
