The Sol Plaatje Municipality in Kimberley, Northern Cape, says it expects to restore water supply in the area by tomorrow.
The water shutdown forms part of a seven-year project funded through a R2.5 billion grant from the National Treasury to upgrade infrastructure in the city.
Municipal Director of Infrastructure and Services, Walter Jood, says the work remains on schedule despite minor delays caused by leaks.
Jood says, “We are working, still on schedule but with those minor delays on the leaks which we need to accelerate. We’ve put up the teams. The teams that completed the other works they will join up with the ones who are working and we should achieve what we are looking for.”
He adds, “The shutdown is still there, so we are going to make sure tomorrow with concerted efforts.”
