Slain Mpumalanga EFF branch Treasurer Dan Makutu.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says it cannot rule out the possibility that the gunning down of its member near a spaza shop in Kobokweni outside White River in Mpumalanga is politically motivated.
Fifty-year-old Dan Makutu apparently received a phone call and then went to meet some people. He was shot multiple times.
Police are investigating a murder case.
Makutu’s funeral will take place today.
EFF Provincial Chairperson Collen Sedibe says, “The funeral service will start at Kaboweni Stadium and proceed to the Rocky’s Drift graveyard. What happened – it’s a political killing, well well-planned assassination obviously by politician living thugs, hired thugs to kill but we have no doubt that it’s politically motivated.”
