Six killed in separate road crashes in Limpopo

Six people, including two pedestrians, have died in separate crashes on Limpopo roads in the past 24 hours. The provincial Transport Department says two of the crashes occurred in the Mopani District.

A driver of a van died after losing control and crashing into a truck. In another incident, two motorcyclists were killed after a vehicle crashed into them.

A vehicle also knocked down two pedestrians on the R71 in Phalaborwa and the R524 in the Vhembe District.

The department’s spokesperson Mashudu Mabata says, “The department would like to thank all stakeholders who worked tirelessly in executing their respective roles during these incidents. We also extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in these tragic accidents. The department continues to urge motorists to obey road safety regulations, as reckless behaviour on the roads can result in fatalities and life-changing injuries. Motorists are strongly advised not to overtake on barrier lines, exercise patience, reduce speed, remain vigilant for pedestrians, drive with extra caution, and adhere to all road safety regulations at all times.”
