Six children killed in two separate fire incidents in Ekurhuleni


Six children have died in two separate fire incidents in the City of Ekurhuleni last night.

In both these incidents, the children were left without adult supervision.

The City’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services spokesperson Maswazi Mdluli says the cause of the fire incidents is currently unknown.

“The first fire incident took place in Villa Lisa at around 8:30 late evening, where four children between the ages of 2 to 14 years lost their lives when their four-room shack caught fire.”

Mdluli adds: “In another devastating fire incident reported at around 22:53 in Katlehong, two children aged 10 and 2 years lost their lives when their four-room house caught fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.”
