The Mayibuye Consultation Process, led by Floyd Shivambu, wrapped up its last leg in KwaZulu-Natal.
The former Umkhonto we Sizwe Party (MKP) secretary-general and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president, has with other prominent political figures, including Hlumelo Biko been soliciting opinion around the country, on whether to start a new political party.

Shivambu earlier met with and addressed community leaders, as well as traditional leaders in the province.
“We’re here and this is the last province that we’re visiting out of all the provinces. We went to all nine provinces, to speak to the people and listen to them, most importantly we needed to hear what they need us to do, how do we move forward because we’ve observed that all the political formations and parties that exist in South Africa, do not enjoy the support and the confidence of majority of South Africans.”
Shivambu says that after engaging with various structures and volunteers, people have told him that they want a new party that will contest in the 2026 local government elections.
He says they want citizens to have an input in the constitution of Mayibuye.
