Former uMkhonto weSizwe Party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu says he will start a process to the establish the formation of a new political movement in South Africa.
The deposed secretary-general of the MKP has broken his silence on the reasons for his removal, saying it was due to false allegations of him seeking to take over the party.
Addressing the media in Midrand north of Johannesburg, Shivambu clarified reasons for his removal from the position.
The former uMkhonto weSizwe Party secretary-general says he remains a member of the MKP.
He accused members of the MK Party of corruption.
Shivambu has maintained his admiration for the party president Jacob Zuma, saying he learned more from him in six-months than he did in his decade at the EFF.
Shivambu explains the consultation process.
“So, to the comrades that came to say let us form a political party, we say that we can’t take that decision – let us subject that process to the people of South Africa. So, we’re here to announce that we’re going to be convening the process of consulting the people of South Africa – on the formation of a political movement.”
“That [movement] will be a true representative of the people of South Africa- and not a personal project, and not a group of friends project, not a cult- and not a fiefdom. So, over the next few months – we will be consulting,” adds Shivambu.
