Shibiri to give evidence at Madlanga Commission on Wednesday

South African Police Service (SAPS) Head of Organised Crime Richard Shibiri is expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria on Wednesday morning.

Shibiri is accused of alleged interference in the probes into alleged cartel members as well as allegedly receiving money from Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala.

He is expected to be questioned about his alleged links to the cartel and his interference in the investigation into the killing of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart. Swart was gunned down outside his workplace in April 2024 in a case of mistaken identity.

Witnesses A and B, who previously testified before the Inquiry, accused Shibiri of trying to interfere with the murder investigation of Swart.

They testified that he warned them that the suspects who were arrested for his murder are very dangerous people.

Four people were arrested for his killing and they include Warrant Officer Michael Pule Tau and alleged cartel member Katiso “KT” Molefe.
