Shebe Maburna back in court for bail application in Polokwane

The bail application of a well-known lekompo musician, Lehlohonolo Chauke, popularly known as ‘Shebe Maburna’, is expected to resume on Monday morning at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo.

An investigating officer is expected to continue with evidence in chief opposing bail.

Shebe Maburna is facing nine charges, including three attempted murders.

The court heard that he allegedly shot at his fans in Ladanna, Polokwane, in October, leaving one critically wounded.

During his last court appearance, Maburna said, through an affidavit read by his lawyer, that he intends to plead not guilty to charges of attempted murder and malicious damage to property, which he allegedly committed in Ladanna.

He also told the court that he must be granted bail as he is the sole breadwinner for his heavily pregnant partner and parents.

The court has heard that Shebe Maburna has missed some performances since his arrest last month.

He had been booked for about 42 events to perform this festive season.
